So You Wanna Be A Pro-Dom: Part 1

November 11th, 2007

Here, as requested, is the totality of what I know about getting hired as a professional dom. (Not what I can say about it, clearly — but who obeys that “write what you know” crap?)

To start you off, here is a list of New York dungeons:

Jasmine’s

Rebecca’s Hidden Chamber

Mistress Elizabeth’s

Rapture NYC

The Nutcracker Suite

Pandora’s Box

The Lair

Jezebel’s

Le Salon de Sade

Labyrinth

Ball and Chain

Sensual Punishment

Some new ones have come to my notice, too:

Fetish Fortress

Tempest (wrestling)

You might refer also to the Village Voice, the New York Press (although they’re cleaning up their act), or any number of other publications in which dungeons might advertise.

All that’s left is to call and ask if they’re hiring. If you are female, one of them will probably take you.

Educatonal, but perhaps not as exciting as people might have expected :-)

I only speak the truth… but I knew someone would find it entertaining!

Ball and Chain and Sensual Punishment are both gone. For rather similar reasons, I believe.

I don’t think the Lair really exists anymore either. I hear it’s been fully absorbed into Pandora’s.

    There’s also Labyrinth: http://www.labyrinthnyc.com/

I spent time as an observer at Ball and Chain before it closed… this was, actually, before I got into the scene.
It was quite an eye opener.

Since then I’ve met and become friends with quite a few Pro Dommes (many of whom I play with privately) and even had a friend treat me to a session at Salon De Sade.

My observations at B&C were that they took anything remotely female. There was a 21 year old from PA who didn’t know what a corset was on her first day, let alone what CBT meant.

My experience as a paid for customer was…unexciting. The Domme used me to tease my benefactor (a regular customer, so not surprising) but while she kept telling him how much harder she was hitting me than him, she bairly touched me. The flogging she gave me wasn’t even a massage, and we were there for over 2 hours.

I wish there were a decent house to work with as a pro sub, but it’s just too dangerous the way they run these houses.

The big dungeons don’t encourage too much communication. It’s unfortunate, but time is money.

My house doesn’t take girls as pro-subs only, though many of the girls switch and will take submissive sessions. I know very little about what it’s like elsewhere.

I would love to see a dungeon of pro-subs! I wonder if they could support themselves.

What about the Den of Iniquity? Did they get wrapped up by somebody?
